Jeremiah 22:18-19
“Therefore this is what the Lord says about Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:
He will have no one to sit on the throne of David; his body will be thrown out and exposed to the heat of the day and the frost of the night. I will punish him and his children and his attendants for their wickedness, and I will make them a disgrace in the eyes of all the nations of the earth.”
In this passage, the prophet Jeremiah delivers a grim prophecy against King Jehoiakim of Judah. Jehoiakim is condemned for his evil deeds and disobedience to God, and God declares that he will not have a descendant sit on the throne of David, and his body will be disgraced, exposed to the elements. This prophecy marks the doom of Jehoiakim’s reign and the downfall of his royal line.
Dalí’s Interpretation in Sacra Biblia
In Dalí’s interpretation, " the scene would likely focus on the chaos of divine wrath, the decay of earthly power, and the futility of Jehoiakim’s reign. The imagery would be surreal, unsettling, and haunting, with contrasting elements of heat and cold, disgraced royal symbols, and decaying forms symbolizing the irreversible consequences of the king’s sin.
