It is from the Book of Hosea, which is found in the Old Testament. The passage is part of a larger metaphor in which God speaks of His relationship with Israel, symbolizing His love and commitment despite the people's unfaithfulness.
Hosea 2:19-20 (NIV):
"I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the Lord."
Dalí’s Interpretation in Sacra Biblia
n Dalí’s surrealist interpretation, he would focus on the divine love and eternal commitment of God to His people. Surreal imagery such as melting forms, floating objects, luminous light, and transformed landscapes would be used to symbolize the sacred bond between God and Israel, while exploring themes of restoration, faithfulness, and the mystery of the divine covenant. The surrealist approach would convey the depth and transcendence of this eternal relationship.
